Postpartum Care

Supporting Emotional Adjustment and Identity in Early Motherhood

Becoming a mother is a profound psychological transition, which can be deeply meaningful — and unexpectedly destabilising.

Beyond physical recovery, early motherhood often brings shifts in identity, priorities, relationships, and emotional intensity. Many women experience moments of overwhelm, vulnerability, self-doubt, or a quiet sense that parts of themselves feel unfamiliar.

These experiences are common. Yet they are not always given space.

The Postpartum Care Programme offers a structured and psychologically informed space where women can slow down, reflect, and reconnect with themselves during this period of adjustment.

This is not a therapeutic programme. It is a psychoeducational and reflective space grounded in clinical psychology and research on emotional regulation, resilience, and identity development in times of life transition.

Who Is This Programme For?

This programme is designed for women in the months following childbirth who wish to:
•  Strengthen their emotional wellbeing
•  Better understand their internal responses and mood changes
•  Reintegrate their sense of identity beyond the caregiving role
•  Navigate relational and role adjustments
•  Develop sustainable strategies for managing stress and overwhelm
•  Cultivate self-compassion during a demanding life phase

Whether you are adjusting to motherhood for the first time or welcoming another child, this programme recognises that early motherhood is psychologically transformative.

You do not have to navigate that process alone.

The Programme

The Postpartum Care Programme unfolds across eight weekly sessions of two hours, in an intimate and professionally facilitated group setting conducted in English.

Each session creates space for thoughtful exploration of the emotional and psychological shifts that accompany early motherhood. Through carefully structured themes, the programme integrates:
•  Structured psychoeducation
•  Reflective group dialogue
•  Tools for emotional regulation
•  Exploration of identity, expectations, values, and internal pressures
•  Self-compassion

Participants are guided to reflect not only on what they are doing, but on how they are experiencing this new phase of life.

The group itself becomes part of the therapeutic factor — reducing isolation, normalising vulnerability, and strengthening psychological resilience. The aim is to support women in adjusting to motherhood with greater awareness, steadiness, and self-trust.

Group Availability

Groups are formed based on demand and commence once a minimum number of participants is reached.

Participants may attend in:
•  The Hague
•  Amsterdam
