Psychologist in Amsterdam – Therapy for Expats and International Professionals

If you are looking for a registered healthcare psychologist in Amsterdam, Nurturing Minds Psychologists offers evidence-based psychological therapy for adults, including expats, international professionals and multilingual residents.

Therapy is available in English, Dutch, Spanish and Catalan, in person in Amsterdam and online across the Netherlands.

Nurturing Minds Psychologists offers both private, self-funded therapy and non-contracted psychological care (ongecontracteerde GGZ) within the Dutch healthcare system. Depending on your health insurance policy and coverage conditions, Dutch health insurers may reimburse part of the costs of psychological treatment provided by a BIG-registered healthcare psychologist (GZ-psycholoog).

International health insurance providers may also reimburse treatment, depending on your individual policy and coverage conditions.

Multilingual Therapy in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is home to a diverse international community, with people from different cultural, linguistic and professional backgrounds.

Nurturing Minds Psychologists offers therapy in English, Dutch, Spanish, and Catalan and works with both Dutch and international clients, including:

• Expats living in the Netherlands
• International professionals
• Dutch residents with international background
• Multilingual clients who feel more comfortable having therapy in a language other than their first language

Being able to express yourself naturally in therapy can make it easier to explore emotions and experiences with greater depth and nuance, particularly when working with identity, trauma, relationships or the impact of major life changes.

Private and Non-Contracted Therapy in Amsterdam

There are different ways to access psychological care at Nurturing Minds Psychologists.

Private, self-funded therapy is available without a GP referral. This may be suitable if you prefer to arrange and pay for therapy independently, if the care you are seeking falls outside Dutch insured mental healthcare, or if you are covered by an international health insurance plan.

We also provide non-contracted psychological care (ongecontracteerde GGZ) within the Dutch healthcare system. If treatment qualifies for insured mental healthcare, Dutch health insurers may reimburse part of the costs. The amount of reimbursement depends on the individual insurance policy and insurer.

For treatment reimbursed through Dutch basic health insurance, a valid referral from a GP or another authorised referrer is generally required.

International health insurance providers may also reimburse psychological treatment according to the terms of the individual policy.

Sessions are paid directly to Nurturing Minds Psychologists, and the appropriate invoices are provided for reimbursement purposes.
